Hello! I’m so glad you stopped by!
This blog is designed to be a place for my thoughts, stories, reflections, pictures, and prayer requests throughout my time in Spain during the summer of 2017.

My name is Kylee Bateman.
I am a follower of Jesus, saved by grace through faith, and I desire to see people come to know and believe the Gospel – the good news that our Creator God sent His son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins so we can have a relationship with Him now and forever.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
Ephesians 2:8-10 (ESV)
Currently, I am a student at Drake University. I am pursuing a double major in graphic design and digital media production, which gives me ample opportunity to develop my creativity through projects like videos and designing websites. Through my classes and an internship at Iowa Public Television, I am so grateful to be learning first-hand how design and digital storytelling can be used to positively impact people.
About My Adventure
During the summer of 2017, I have been given the opportunity to serve at Camp L’Arcada, a Christian camp 1.5 hours northwest of Barcelona, in the Pyrenees mountains. From June 3 to August 13, I will be volunteering with their multimedia team. This will entail videography, photography, and various design projects for the camp.
Thanks for following along and joining me on this adventure!
“To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by his power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 (ESV), emphasis added
About Camp L’Arcada
Camp L’Arcada was founded in 1991 and focuses on evangelism, discipleship, and leadership training, with the ultimate goal of building the church in Spain. They offer adventure camps, sports camps, English camps, and family camps. 60% of participants who come to Camp L’Arcada have never heard the gospel or been to an evangelical church. The truths of the Bible are presented to the campers (who usually range from ages 4 to 18) in creative ways they can understand, similar to how Jesus taught spiritual truths through parables.
